Gillard was arrested Wednesday in Winston-Salem, according to the Greensboro News & Record.

According to the News & Record, officers were called to a traffic accident on Denny Road on the morning of May 24 and found Holmes in the car with a gunshot wound. The accident occurred because of the shooting, police said.

Holmes’ daughter told the newspaper that her mother was shot in the neck and could not take her foot off the accelerator, causing the crash.
