Dozens of jobs at risk as delivery company warns administrators

A delivery company promising same-day, next-day and out-of-hours services in and around Chesterfield and Sheffield is facing a bleak future.

Chesterfield-based Home Delivery Services (HDS) has posted a notice of intent (NOI) to appoint administrators through law firm DLA Piper.

In the latest available accounts, drawn up to the end of 2022, HDS said it employed 136 staff. At the time, the company had assets of more than £1.8 million and owed almost £2.6 million to creditors.

The NOI will protect HDS from creditor actions for a period of approximately ten days.

HSBC Bank and HSBC Invoice Finance have filed charges against the company.

HDS is the second Chesterfield delivery company to hit tough times in just a few weeks. In April we announced that City Couriers Direct, which has been branded a “disgrace” by some of its suppliers, had engaged administrators from Leonard Curtis.
