This weekend at The Fallon Theater we have two fantastic, fun, free films.

For the young at heart, we’ll be showing the 2010 animated favorite, “How to Train Your Dragon,” on Friday and Saturday at 6 p.m. Follow the adventures of Hiccup, a down-on-his-luck young Viking who aspires to hunt dragons, but becomes the unlikely friend of a young dragon himself and discovers that there may be more to the creatures than he has been taught. This film is rated PG due to its intense action sequences, some scary images and brief, mild language.

Our second film, “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Adventure,” will be shown Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. Based on JRR Tolkien’s beloved novel, this fantastic tale tells the story of a reluctant Hobbit named Bilbo Baggins who sets off to the Lonely Mountain with an enthusiastic group of dwarves who want to reclaim their mountain home and the gold within it from the dragon Smaug.

The film is rated PG-13 for extended sequences featuring intense fantasy action, violence and terrifying images.

The Hobbit Trilogy continues the next two weekends at 7 p.m. with “The Desolation of Smaug” on June 14 and 15 (along with “The Land Before Time” at 6 p.m.) and “The Battle of the Five Armies” on June 21 . and 22 (along with “Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl” at 6 p.m.). Plan to join us for the whole epic adventure on the big screen…with popcorn!

Even further down the calendar, on Wednesday, June 26, The De Golyer Bucking Horse and Bull Bash will sponsor a special event film, “The Cowboy Way” (1994), starring Woody Harrelson and Kiefer Sutherland at 7 p.m.

Two childhood friends who are rodeo cowboys travel from New Mexico to New York City in search of a friend who disappeared while looking for his daughter who has just been smuggled from Cuba to the US. The film is rated PG-13 for violence, some language and comedic sensuality.

In July we’re hosting Acid Box, the Fallon-local hard rock heavy metal punk fusion with a blues-influenced band… and they’re loud! Watch them on July 20 at 7 p.m. Coverage is $10.
