COLUMBUS, Ind. – Positions are still available for the Columbus Police Department (CPD) “Precision Driving Course for Teens.” Classes are scheduled for June 7, June 28, and July 12, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Students must have a valid driver’s license or permit.

The one-day program includes classroom instruction and hands-on driving on a closed roadway.

In the classroom, students learn vehicle dynamics, safety and the legal aspects of driving. On the closed lane, they learn how to make safe panic stops, safe evasive steering maneuvers and off-road recovery. Students will also practice their reversing and parallel parking skills.

The class is at the Columbus Police Department. CPD will provide cars for the track portion of the course. Lunch is also included. The costs are €25 and must be submitted when registering to reserve a place. Limited scholarships are available.

Contact Officer Angie Owens for class availability at 812-376-2600 or by email at [email protected]. You can register here.
