Obituary of Brent Cottrell – Amherst, OH (1958-2018)

It is with great sadness that the family of 60-year-old Brent Dale Cottrell announces his passing on November 7, 2018 in Amherst, Ohio, after succumbing to complications related to prostate cancer. Brent was born on July 30, 1958 in Toledo, Ohio, to Thelma and Doug Cottrell. He graduated from Mount Vernon Academy in 1977. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Columbus College of Art & Design and had a long and successful career at Hallmark Cards in Kansas City and American Greetings in Ohio. He loved football, sports, photography, good food, riding his Harley-Davidson, his grandchildren and most of all making people laugh. He loved his friends like family, they were of the utmost importance to him and he loved having them around as much as possible. Brent will be lovingly remembered by his wife Kelly of 25 years; his sons, Jeremy (Tynia) and Josh; his brother, Marshall (Jenny); his sister, Darrell (Terry); nieces and nephews and his mother-in-law, Sally Stinson. He will be greatly missed by his grandchildren, Knox and Claire. He was preceded in death by both of his parents; and his father-in-law, Russ Stinson, who passed away on October 5, 2018. He always had a silly joke to put a smile on our faces. Is it also possible that someone loved ice cream more than you? We miss you and love you. Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life on Saturday, December 1, 2018 from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Rosebud Party Center, 4493 Oberlin Ave., Lorain, OH 44053 In lieu of flowers, please show your support to to put an end to prostate cancer.
