John LINK Obituary – New Britain, CT

LINK, John Edward, Sr. John Edward Link Sr.,87 passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Friday, January 21, 2011. He was married for 62 years to his beloved wife Elizabeth T. “Betty” (Mulhall) Link who passed away on September 7, 2008. John was born in New Britain, son of the late Frank and Tereza (Gaj) Link. He attended local schools and graduated from New Britain Senior High School. He served his country during World War II in the United States Coast Guard in the South Pacific Theater. He retired from Consolidated Industries of Cheshire CT where he was a Master Machinist. John and Betty were active members of St. Joseph’s Church. He was a member of the Saint Joseph Men’s Club, Sokol’s and the VFW. During his lifetime, he brought strength, comfort and happiness to all who knew him. He loved life and his family unconditionally and instilled his strong work ethic in his children. John is survived by four sons: John Link and his wife Cheryl of Simsbury, Anthony Link of Carson City NV., Stephen Link and his wife Diane of West Hartford, Christopher Link and his wife Joanna of Newington. Three daughters: Mary Wesoly and husband John of Norfolk CT, Sue Grasso and husband Tony of Carson City NV, Judy O’Neill and husband Jeff of New Britain; also his sister-in-law, Sister Judith Mulhall CSJ of West Hartford; fifteen grandchildren: Alanna Miranda, John Wesoly IV., Anthony Grasso, Sarah Grasso, Jeffrey O’Neil, Lindsey O’Neil, Jessica Link, Kelly Link, Miranda Link, Tammy Link, Taylor Link, Tom Link, Tad Link, Francesca Link and Felicia Link; fourteen great-grandchildren. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers: Frank and Stephen Link; four sisters: Mary Devanny, Ann Buchta, Theresa Minas, Julia Pac and Josephine Link. The family is deeply grateful to Naana Oduro for her gentle care of their father over the past two years. Family and friends are asked to gather at Saint Joseph Church, 195 South Main Street, New Britain, Tuesday, January 25, at 11 a.m. to celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial. The burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Friends may call at the Kenney-Luddy Funeral Home, 205 South Main Street, New Britain, on Monday, January 24 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Saint Joseph Church of The Sisters of Saint Joseph Retirement Fund, 27. Park Road, West Hartford CT. 06119
