Baysox gives the second game in a row to Senators on Thursday evening

Bowie Baysox News Report

HARRISBURG, PA. – The Bowie Baysox, the Double-A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles, fell 5-2 to the Harrisburg Senators, the Double-A affiliate of the Washington Nationals, on Thursday evening at FNB Field in Harrisburg.

Bowie (30-29) generated all its offense from the long ball Thursday night, as Jud Fabian and Silas Ardoin both went deep with solo home runs in the loss. On the field, the Baysox struggled out of the gate. Bowie committed three errors in the first four innings of the game. Harrisburg’s Dylan Crews reached two batters in the bottom of the first inning after a throwing error by Frederick Bencosme and eventually came home to score on a double steal with runners on first and third base.

Fabian’s big swing came in the top of the second inning, tying the game at one. It was Fabian’s eleventh long ball of the season – the most on the team and tied for third in the Eastern League.

Harrisburg scored three runs in the third on three hits against Baysox right-handed starter Trace Bright (L, 0-6), who pitched four innings that evening. Ardoin’s solo homer, his third of the season, narrowed the deficit to 4-2 in the sixth inning. That would be the final Baysox tally of the night on Senators starter Kyle Luckham’s (W, 3-4) tally during his seven innings of work.

Harrisburg would quickly restore its three-run lead after a solo home run of its own by Brady House in the seventh. It was the only run allowed in four innings in relief of right-hander Ryan Long on Thursday night.

A pair of baserunners reached Bowie in the top of the ninth and brought the tying run to the plate with one out, but the Baysox got no closer. Harrisburg right-hander Daison Acosta (S, 1) struck out the next two batters he faced to end the ballgame.

The Baysox continue their six-game set with the Senators on Friday, with right-hander Kyle Brnovich (4-2, 4.26 ERA) starting on the mound for the Baysox, opposite right-hander Josiah Gray, who is pitching for the Senators on a Major League Rehab assignment . The first pitch is scheduled for 7:00 PM ET from FNB Field in Harrisburg.

Bowie returns home on Tuesday, June 18, to kick off a six-game homestand against the Altoona Curve – Double-A affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates at Prince George’s Stadium.
