SZA has another award to her name – this time for her songwriting!

The 34-year-old singer received the Hal David Starlight Award at the Songwriters Hall of Fame 2024 Induction and Awards Gala on Thursday, June 13, recognizing her impact on the music industry through her original songwriting.

“I’m beyond my wildest dreams,” SZA said in her acceptance speech, later adding that the honor “essentially validates all aspects of her career,” including songwriting.

“I’m just so grateful,” she said. “Thanks for seeing me.”

“I swear, I’ll be like, ‘Oh, I wrote this and I wrote that,’” SZA said. “And (people would) say, ‘Okay,’ especially if you’re a woman, especially if you’re a black woman. So to win this… it just means everything.”

After her speech, SZA performed an acoustic rendition of “Snooze.” Songwriter Nile Rodgers presented her with the award.
