Officers rescue family from burning house in Western Australia

Newly released bodycam footage captured the moment officers rescued a family from a burning house in Western Australia on April 26.

Footage released by Western Australia police shows an officer kicking in the door of a house in Albany, south of Perth, and finding a man in the living room. When an officer tells the man to raise his hands, the man bends down and lights a trail of fuel as other residents of the house scream.

According to local news reports, police were able to safely remove the family from the home and worked to contain the fire until firefighters arrived.

A 30-year-old man was arrested and charged with “unlawfully attempting to kill and using a corrosive liquid or explosive substance to cause harm or avoid arrest,” the report said. Credit: WA Police via Storyful
